Thursday Getaway: The Festy Experience
The Festy Experience has a unique history, and it goes like this: In August of 2009, The Infamous Stringdusters played the Brew Ridge Trail Music Festival on the ground of Devil's Backbone Brewery in Nelson County, VA. They knew they wanted to create a music festival of their own already, but it became obvious that the location in Nelson was the perfect spot to make it happen. At the time, the group used the place-holder name, "The Festy" (commonly used to describe a festival), but wanted to create the right experience for the event to be successful and sustainable. As planning continued, the name The Festy Experience took hold, and the rest is history. Today, the Stringdusters' event still has a commitment to providing a fabulous three-day music festival without producing excess waste. We are proud to work with The Festy to continue to spread the message of sustainability to other events and to help reduce single-use waste, one reusable pint and Kanteen at a time.
The 2015 Festy Experience kicks off in just one day, and continues with the same principles it was founded with. You won't see a single-use beer cup or bottle of water available for sale on site, and every Festy admission ticket comes with a Klean Kanteen stainless steel pint. You can learn more about sustainability during Festy here. This year's lineup includes headliners Lyle Lovett, Brett Dennen, the Sam Bush Band and more, and you can check out the full lineup here. We hope to see you there!
